About the role

Senior engineer to grow and maintain Apple’s endpoint detection and response (EDR) agent running on Linux, macOS, and Apple silicon. Focus on delivering production-grade software at scale with a reliability mindset, building capabilities without downtime, and translating high-stakes problems into working software.

Responsibilities

  • Ship and support production software or system software for EDR agent used at large scale
  • Collaborate with other teams to define what to build and how
  • Improve reliability and ensure releases run on production hosts
  • Develop, test, and maintain a Swift-based agent and related infrastructure
  • Contribute to CI/CD, release tooling, staged rollout and rollback processes

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of professional experience building, shipping and supporting production software or system software
  • Proficiency in at least one high-level or scripting language (Python or Rust) and at least one low-level systems language (C or C++)
  • Solid knowledge of operating system internals (processes, threads, memory, system calls, namespaces) on Linux, macOS, or both
  • Credible understanding of attacker behavior and security concepts and telemetry (process, network, file events) on hosts
  • Experience with endpoint/host/agent software at large scale with performance and availability objectives
  • Experience with eBPF, EndpointSecurity or similar OS-level instrumentation and evasion concepts
  • Experience with Swift on server, concurrency in Swift, and cross-platform builds
  • Understanding of EDR/host-based detection techniques and current industry state of the art
  • Experience with policy-driven detection logic (e.g., OPA/Rego) and probabilistic data structures for anomaly detection
  • Experience with virtualization/hypervisor environments
  • Experience building CI/CD and release tooling for host-deployed software, including staged rollout and rollback
