About the role

Internship focused on advancing Swift/C++ interoperability within Apple’s Swift compiler. Opportunity to contribute to bleeding-edge compiler features, work with the open source Swift project, and gain practical industry experience under mentorship. Based onsite at Apple’s London campus.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the evolution and development of Swift/C++ interoperability in the Swift compiler.
  • Develop features that enhance memory safety, performance, and ergonomics of language interoperation.
  • Learn inner workings of the compiler and apply them to a shipping compiler with a large user base.
  • Collaborate with the open source community and contribute to the Swift open source project.
  • Receive technical guidance, architectural review, and mentorship from a supportive team.

Qualifications

  • Interest and academic experience with compiler engineering
  • Practical experience with C++
  • Background in programming languages
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Experience contributing to open source projects
  • Experience making technical contributions to a compiler
