About the role

Mechanical Engineer for Apple’s Display Technologies group to design and develop innovative display modules, own integration, validation, and production ramp, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and suppliers. Role involves defining module architecture, interfaces, validation plans, and ensuring high yield and quality, with international travel (~15%).

Responsibilities

  • Define the module mechanical architecture based on optical, electrical, mechanical, and cross-functional requirements.
  • Work with the system team to define the interface to the product including fit, assembly features, and tolerance analyses and deliver specifications including 3D/2D.
  • Support the product through engineering development, mass-production ramp-up, and launch.
  • Achieve system goals through mechanical design optimization, prototyping, new material qualification, and manufacturing processes.
  • Perform factory audits to review manufacturing and assembly for high yield and quality.
  • Define and implement validation plans for ME characteristics of the display modules using scientific and analytical approaches.
  • Drive detailed failure analyses for issues to reach robust corrective actions.
  • Ensure specifications are met throughout the supply chain and communicate validation results to peers and leadership.
  • Travel internationally (~15%, primarily Asia).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with at least 8 years of experience.
  • Expertise in mechanical engineering fundamentals (materials properties, solid mechanics, beam statics, Newtonian physics, thermodynamics).
  • Experience leading mechanical design & validation.
  • 3D/2D software experience: Pro/E, NX, CATIA, or Solidworks.
  • Experience with diverse manufacturing techniques and materials.
  • Failure analysis experience.
