About the role

Senior Manager, technical and hands-on leader responsible for building and operating a fleet-scale detection and response platform that fuses signals from hosts, applications, cloud control planes and identity. Leads threat hunting, detection engineering, and agentic AI-driven workflows within Apple's Detection team of ASE, partnering with on-host agent team and security organizations to improve detection, response, and threat hunting at scale.

Responsibilities

  • - Manage a team of experienced engineers; serve as a close peer to the manager of the on-host agent team.
  • - Lead delivery, platform dependencies, and operations with partner teams across Apple's security organization.
  • - Bring experience deploying autonomous GenAI workflows in detection and response.
  • - Influence Apple's security posture and protect Apple's customers worldwide.
  • - Hire, onboard, level, and scale the team while shipping solutions.
  • - Set direction within an agreed strategy and drive priorities to results.
  • - Turn threat hunting results into improved detections and feed into detection engineering.

Qualifications

  • - 10+ years of experience managing engineering teams.
  • - 8+ years of professional experience building and shipping production software or data systems.
  • - Experience deploying standalone GenAI or agentic workflows to production in detection, response, threat hunting, or related security/ops domain.
  • - Deep domain experience in security detection and response, with telemetry-based investigation experience; threat hunting is a plus.
  • - Experience with large-scale security data and detection platforms (pipelines, correlation, enrichment, alert handling).
  • - Experience leading threat hunting or detection engineering teams and translating results into detections.
  • - Experience with Spark, Databricks or similar, and streaming alert pipelines.
  • - Experience designing automated or semi-automated response and containment.
  • - Experience scaling a team (hiring, onboarding, leveling) while shipping.
  • - Experience collaborating with partner organizations owning related services.
  • - Experience setting direction and driving priorities to results.
  • - Public contributions (open source, talks, papers, blogs).
  • - Business acumen to balance detection/automation benefits with costs and privacy considerations.
