About the role
Duffel is hiring a backend-focused Software Engineer to help design and build its travel distribution API and developer experience, primarily using Elixir, with a strong emphasis on API design, scalable systems, and collaboration across teams.
Responsibilities
- Design and build fantastic APIs and developer experiences for travel distribution
- Collaborate across teams to integrate with hundreds of airlines
- Contribute to API design, standards, and processes
- Communicate clearly about work, progress, and decisions
- Work in a collaborative environment and adapt to feedback
- Own significant portions of the codebase and impact the product’s direction
Qualifications
- 6+ years of engineering experience
- Interest in Elixir (learning on the job acceptable)
- Strong coding standards and API design
- Ability to think big-picture and trade off technical work against business impact
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Bonus: experience in travel (flights, hotels, cars)
