About the role

Founding Engineer role at Aqua, a YC-backed AI-native turnkey platform for alternative investments. The position involves owning end-to-end production systems, building agentic document processing, and implementing robust automation within a microservices-based platform.

Responsibilities

  • Ship production code in first week
  • Own a critical automation pipeline with direct, measurable business impact
  • Work with operations and client service teams to replace manual processes
  • Make architectural decisions that the team will build on
  • Build and operate end-to-end systems in production
  • Develop and maintain LLM-powered document ingestion/classification/extraction/generation pipelines
  • Implement robust automation with error handling, audit trails, and graceful fallbacks
  • Modernize platform while ensuring stability under load and large transaction volumes

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience
  • Experience shipping systems that handle real money, real data, or real compliance constraints
  • Comfort with backend systems, data pipelines, and infrastructure
  • Experience with or building LLM-powered applications and understanding failure modes
  • Ability to work in ambiguity and own end-to-end outcomes
  • Proficiency in Python (and related tech) is implied by stack
