Data Scientist role at Reframe, a YC-backed health app helping people cut back on alcohol use. Focus on data collection, preprocessing, modeling, and experimentation to drive user behavior insights and personalized interventions.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the engineering team to establish robust data collection pipelines, ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of user data.
  • Design and implement data warehousing and storage solutions to efficiently manage the growing volume of user data.
  • Develop data quality assurance processes to maintain the accuracy and reliability of the data.
  • Implement robust data cleaning and preprocessing techniques to address missing values, outliers, and data inconsistencies.
  • Develop automated data transformation and normalization pipelines to prepare data for analysis.
  • Work closely with the engineering team to streamline data cleaning and maintain data integrity.
  • Conduct in-depth analyses of user behavior, engagement, and outcomes to uncover patterns, trends, and optimization opportunities.
  • Leverage statistical techniques and machine learning models to identify key factors influencing user success in reducing alcohol consumption.
  • Generate visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Develop predictive models to anticipate user needs, behaviors, and risk factors related to alcohol consumption.
  • Implement personalized recommendation algorithms to tailor interventions, content, and features.
  • Continuously refine predictive models to improve accuracy and effectiveness of personalization.
  • Design and execute rigorous A/B tests to evaluate new features and interventions.
  • Analyze experiment results to guide product roadmap and decisions.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to translate insights into actionable improvements.
  • Stay up-to-date with trends and best practices in data science, ML, and user analytics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science)
  • Experience in data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing using SQL, Python, or R
  • Expertise in statistical analysis, machine learning, and predictive modeling techniques
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience in health or wellness, particularly in addiction or behavior change (preferred)
