About the role

Staff Software Engineer role at Lunar, a stealth healthtech company building an AI-native hospital information system. Focus on designing a modern cloud-native platform with Elixir, solving hard engineering challenges across access control, uptime, hardware-software integration, and workflow modernization in healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a modern cloud-native platform with Elixir at its core.
  • Design and implement a radically better access control system for clinical data with fine-grained permissions.
  • Build infrastructure that supports 24/7 hospital operations with rolling deployments, failover, and real-time data sync.
  • Architect a next-generation integration engine to connect ventilators, bedside monitors, imaging equipment, lab equipment, and more in real time.
  • Rethink and rewire hospital workflows to improve data movement between clinicians and administrators.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Proficiency with object oriented and functional programming; experience with Phoenix, Elixir, Python, Erlang, Javascript, Node.js and more.
  • Strong ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative, and innovative team environment.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills with a track record of tackling challenging engineering problems.
  • Intellectually curious with a growth mindset and ability to tackle novel challenges using fundamentals and first principles.
  • Familiarity with open-source technology and willingness to explore new solutions.
  • Experience building 0-1 with strong product sense.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate technical decisions, trade-offs, and best practices.
