About the role

Palantir is hiring Backend Software Engineers to build scalable backend services, APIs, and data-driven platforms. Engineers contribute across the product lifecycle, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and may participate in Frontline assignments embedded with customers. The role emphasizes reliable, performant, and scalable systems with a strong focus on user-centered workflows and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable backend services that underpin our operational data and AI systems
  • Maintaining high coding standards through development of guidelines, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Building robust APIs for front-end and external system integration, collaborating with front-end developers
  • Designing efficient data structures and algorithms to manage large-scale data
  • Optimizing applications for speed and scalability through performance analysis
  • Actively improve user workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive user experiences across product boundaries

Qualifications

  • Experience in designing and developing features and improvements, as well as supporting and maintaining live backend systems
  • In-depth understanding of data structures, system architecture, API development for microservices, distributed systems, and backend concepts
  • Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field
  • Strong coding skills in Java, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to iterate quickly with teammates, incorporating feedback and maintaining high quality
