About the role

HVAC Technician with mid- to senior-level experience to assist with facilities projects, performing maintenance, installation, and repairs of HVAC systems, while scoping, estimating, and planning minor repair projects.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units
  • Diagnose and repair electronic, mechanical, and electrical components of these systems
  • Preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to a variety of commercial HVAC systems, chillers, boilers, water source heat pumps, cooling towers, package rooftops, split systems, controls, pumps, VAVs
  • Support the full life cycle of small-scale projects from initial concept design through project completion
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on facilities and equipment, including HVAC, electrical, digital controls, and other mechanical systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems with facilities and equipment, and repair or replace defective parts as needed
  • Respond to emergency maintenance requests
  • Conduct site visits to document existing facility conditions and develop new requirements
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports to document facility conditions and project status
  • Ensure that all facilities are in compliance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Maintain accurate records related to maintenance activities and administrative tasks, including work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, equipment inventory, and time sheets

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of HVAC experience and current Journeyman licensure
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree in facilities maintenance, engineering, or a related field preferred
  • EPA Refrigerant Reclamation and Recovery Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and blueprints
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with a wide range of equipment and troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) required
  • Familiarity with state and local building codes, OSHA regulations, and NFPA standards a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Pre-employment physical exam required
  • Ability to lift up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to work in environments with fumes, dust, noise, heat, and chemicals
  • Participation in medical surveillance programs may be required
  • Must be able to perform physical tasks including climbing, reaching, and working at heights up to and exceeding 30 feet
  • Ability to safely use moving equipment and engage in essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation
