About the role

Special Education Specialist responsible for scheduling, coordination, and implementation of evaluations and IEP team services, collaborating with pathway supervisors, instructional and support staff, and parents/guardians; ensures district procedures align with state and federal requirements; may include data analysis and responding to parents/guardians and others supporting a student’s IEP.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling, coordination, implementation, of evaluations and individualized education program (IEP) team services
  • Collaboration with pathway supervisors, instructional and support staff, and parents/guardians of students with IEPs
  • Act as a liaison to other district staff and provide resources/information regarding special education programs and services
  • Ensure established district procedures are followed in alignment with state and federal regulatory requirements
  • Data analysis and responding to parents/guardians and other individuals supporting a student’s IEP

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in special education or related field
  • Valid Michigan Teacher Certificate with special education endorsement
  • Previous successful Special Education teaching experience
  • Knowledge of the Michigan state standards related to Special Education
  • Commitment to Lansing School District’s mission and vision
