About the role

PTI is a non-profit research institute focused on proteomics technology development and interdisciplinary collaboration. This role targets advancing multiplexed protein analysis workflows using LC-MS/MS and fosters collaboration across chemists, machine learning engineers, biologists, and mass spectrometrists.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to research projects leveraging PTI's multiplexing platform.
  • Collaborate with biologists, chemists, research associates, computational scientists, and mass spectrometrists.
  • Prepare internal reports and manuscripts, and present results at internal or external meetings.
  • Mentor scientists and research associates.
  • Disseminate discoveries through publications, presentations, and data submissions.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, or related field; BS + 3+ years considered.
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS, particularly for proteomics.
  • Able to develop highly-sensitive workflows for data acquisition by LC-MS/MS pipelines.
  • Experience collaborating across disciplines to leverage multiplexing platform.
  • Experience with large-scale analyses (thousands of samples) and data visualization in Python and/or R and command line.
  • Reproducible research using git, Jupyter notebooks, etc.
  • Experience with cloud environments (AWS or Google Cloud).
  • Preparation and analysis of brain samples or equivalent experience, including human brain tissue preparation for downstream protein analyses.
  • Mentoring and report/manuscript preparation; presenting results at scientific meetings.
