About the role

Senior, hands-on engineering role owning direction and execution of critical products at Surge, with high autonomy and ownership, collaborating with engineers and researchers to build products that support advanced AI training and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative solutions to enhance annotation efficiency using the latest AI advancements.
  • Create intuitive interfaces for data exploration and visualization, including tools for RLHF processes.
  • Design and implement systems for large-scale data processing to support AI model training and evaluation.
  • Build interactive products to effectively communicate complex instructions to our workforce.
  • Contribute to products that facilitate the collection and analysis of human feedback for RLHF and other AI training methodologies.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience building and shipping production software
  • Demonstrated experience leading projects with significant scope and ambiguity
  • Product-focused mindset: rapidly shipping features and products that solve real-world problems
  • Passion for AI ethics: committed to making AI models safer and more useful for society
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to explain decisions and trade-offs to senior engineers
  • Startup experience (early-stage engineer or founder strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Python or Ruby on Rails, and React/Typescript
  • CS degree from a top school or equivalent STEM background
