About the role

Senior Producer to oversee Opinion's short-form vertical video, leading original reporting and video commentary, guiding editors and journalists, and ensuring timely production in a fast-paced newsroom environment. In-office role based in New York City with possible remote flexibility.

Responsibilities

  • Guide reporting, approve casting, frame and advance stories
  • Edit scripts and re-writes
  • Provide notes in edit and rough cut stages
  • Creative ideation and visual invention
  • Review, critique stories
  • Ensure smooth production with clear deliverables and deadlines
  • Guide and encourage producers to work to their maximum potential
  • Produce original video and experiment with new video formats
  • Manage the work of a team of journalists and editors
  • Demonstrate support and understanding of journalistic independence and commitment to the mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world
  • You will report to the Executive Producer, Opinion Shows

Qualifications

  • 8+ years producing digital news videos
  • 3+ years managing direct reports
  • Broad knowledge of current events and news
  • Deep curiosity about video habits and users and platforms
  • Familiar with digital storytelling formats
