About the role

Palantir's defense product vertical builds mission-critical backend software for the modern warfighter, focusing on high-scale data-driven workflows, real-time collaboration, and secure data integration. The role involves architecting and delivering scalable backend services, APIs, and data structures, collaborating across cross-functional teams, and contributing to a fast-paced CI/CD environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architecting, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable backend services that underpin our operational data and AI systems
  • Maintaining high coding standards through guidelines, code reviews, and knowledge sharing
  • Building robust APIs for front-end and external system integration, collaborating with front-end developers
  • Designing efficient data structures and algorithms for large-scale, high-throughput data
  • Optimizing applications for speed and scalability through performance analysis
  • Improving user workflows by collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive experiences across product boundaries

Qualifications

  • Engineering background in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics or similar field
  • Strong coding skills with proficiency in Java, C++, Python, Rust, or similar languages
  • In-depth understanding of data structures, system architecture, API development for microservices, distributed systems
  • Experience designing and developing features and maintaining live backend systems
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to iterate quickly with teammates
  • Eligibility and willingness to obtain a US Security clearance
