About the role

OpenAI is seeking a product manufacturing engineer focused on PCB/PCBA manufacturing and process to drive manufacturing and quality initiatives from concept to mass production for next-gen AI hardware.

Responsibilities

  • In this role, you’ll be responsible for driving manufacturing and quality initiatives to ensure product success from concept to launch
  • Lead the product design and the manufacturing process for next-gen AI hardware system development, coordinating with design engineering, operations teams, TPMs, and external vendors to ensure on-time, high-quality delivery
  • Lead the team to establish NPI product manufacturing process, systems and quality controls, defining milestones and deliverables, and drive internal process improvements across multiple terms and functions
  • Provide hands-on product manufacturing analysis during design, development, testing, prototypes and production phases
  • Research automation techniques and develop new tests and systems for efficiency
  • Own L6 up to potentially L10 product manufacturing development of the hardware product including PCB, PCBA, cabling and connectorization & L10 assembly spanning internal and external development through deployment into infrastructure and production scaling
  • Develop and manage overall product manufacturing requirements, scope, schedules, and deliverables with engineering teams, TPMs, suppliers, partners and stakeholders
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution of programs
  • Utilize problem-solving skills to resolve issues, perform risk assessment, risk mitigation and change management on projects
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Monitor project progress and ensure deadlines and standards are met

Qualifications

  • Experience leading complex projects from concept to production launch with cross-functional collaboration
  • Creative, detail-oriented, self-motivated mindset for the tech industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of PCB & PCBA manufacturing technologies
  • Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to integrate validation needs into system builds
  • Experience driving development timelines for new platform introductions and internal review processes
  • Experience with multinational JDM/CMs & suppliers focusing on creativity, quality, and schedule
  • Deep familiarity with PCB material selection, PCBA, BOM component selection, assembly and rework processes and related equipment
  • Experience testing ultra-high speed signals
  • Ability to capture, analyze, and present manufacturing test data
  • Keen on corrective actions
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions
