About the role

Software engineering internship at Nuro focused on AI Platform with possible work across Data Platform, Onboard Systems, ML Infrastructure, Simulation, or Technical Infrastructure depending on skills and interests.

Responsibilities

  • Data Platform: manage data, labels, metrics for Nuro AI Driver; data annotation across 2D/3D perception, mapping, behavior trajectory, and language/text; data ingestion and mining; support autonomy evaluation infrastructure with detailed introspection.
  • Onboard Systems: integrate autonomy software and algorithms across self-driving platforms; collaborate with software, hardware, and safety teams to ensure safe and reliable operation; resolve onboard error and performance problems.
  • ML Infrastructure: provide solutions to accelerate ML development, optimize on-cloud training and onboard inference; distributed training platform, ML compiler, model components libraries.
  • Simulation: build simulator for development and testing of autonomous driving; core simulator and simulation frameworks, sensor simulation, scenario generation; combine real-world data with synthetic data to enable scalable, realistic simulation.
  • Technical Infrastructure: manage services for engineering, including compute platform, storage management, cloud infrastructure as code, and engineering productivity tools (build and CI/CD).

Qualifications

  • Current BS or MS candidate in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • Graduating December 2026 or later
  • Experience in backend API design, applications development, large-scale distributed systems; data storage and processing; C++ and Python for ML; multithreading; x86 architecture; software performance tuning and optimization; robotics software frameworks; compute modalities (CPU, GPU, FPGA)
  • Strong problem solving and programming skills
