About the role

Country Director, India responsible for Coinbase's overall strategy and business performance in the Indian market, driving cross-functional execution, navigating regulatory environments, building local teams, and representing Coinbase with regulators, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Own Coinbase's business performance in India, including user growth, revenue, and long-term market position, and build relationships with potential commercial partners and key stakeholders.
  • Drive the country strategy by synthesizing market, regulatory, and competitive analysis into high-impact growth opportunities and executable plans.
  • Lead cross-functional execution with Marketing, Business Development, Legal, Compliance, and Policy to deliver India-specific initiatives while managing regulatory risk and compliance requirements.
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Design to shape and launch locally relevant products that achieve product-market fit within India's regulatory constraints.
  • Shape Coinbase's regulatory and policy positioning in India by engaging with regulators, industry bodies, and policy stakeholders to unlock new products and maintain compliance.
  • Build and develop a high-performing local team while serving as Coinbase's senior representative in India across regulators, partners, media, and industry forums.

Qualifications

  • Senior leadership experience (CEO, COO, GM, Country Head, or Founder) scaling a platform, e-commerce, fintech, or trading business in India with measurable impact on revenue and active users over at least 5 years.
  • Direct experience engaging with Indian financial regulators and policy stakeholders with outcomes balancing constructive relationships and commercial objectives.
  • Track record partnering with Product, Marketing, and Business Development to build, launch, and scale products in regulated environments, including licensing, compliance, and risk management.
  • Deep understanding of India's regulated financial services ecosystem, including Compliance, Risk, Finance, Treasury, Audit, and third-party oversight functions.
  • Proven ability to lead in a remote-first, globally matrixed organization, aligning local execution with global standards while advocating for market-specific needs at the executive level.
  • Experience utilizing generative AI responsibly with human oversight to drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
