About the role

The BOM Sourcing Engineer (Product Sourcing Engineer) drives strategic supply network development and cost management across hardware lifecycles, owning end-to-end supply chain for the Intelligence & Space business line, including engineering support, vendor onboarding, sourcing, pricing, and BOM management.

Responsibilities

  • Deep dive into engineering BOM with engineering to ensure parts can be sourced and procured at reasonable target levels
  • Conduct supplier selection using approved list and onboard unique vendors for Space & Intelligence
  • Drive on-time delivery with innovative solutions to Space industry lead-times and constraints
  • Partner with strategic suppliers to accelerate product development (concept scoping, trade-off analysis, should-cost models, joint design development with clear SOW, mechanical/electronic design simulations)
  • Develop and consolidate manufacturing BOM with Engineering, Quality, and Manufacturing to ramp production
  • Manage total cost of the program (NPI & mass production)
  • Value-stream mapping to optimize supply network lead time and flexibility
  • Complete BOM risk assessment including alternate sourcing
  • Ensure component qualifications ahead of production
  • Reduce complexity via commonality optimization and supplier rationalization
  • Lead cost engineering to converge cost curves to product cost and maximize TCO
  • Manage ad-hoc cost issues (tariffs, import/export costs, cost inflation)
  • Manage supply issues to ensure on-time delivery at or below target cost

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical field
  • 5+ years of experience in sourcing engineering, supplier engagement and development, or design of electronics and/or mechanical devices
  • Domain expertise in value/procurement engineering or TCO at component and product level
  • Active U.S. Secret or TS clearance and ability to maintain clearance
  • Ability to travel 10% - 40% of the time (variable by program)
  • Ability to relocate to be onsite in Costa Mesa, CA if not local
