About the role

Software Engineering Manager leading teams delivering software across autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control for autonomous maritime systems within Anduril’s Maritime Division.

Responsibilities

  • Empathize with end-users and drive solutions in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Be accountable for software enabled solutions deployed to customers, optimizing value delivery
  • Collaborate with Technical Lead to architect scalable software with evolution path
  • Coordinate team roadmap and execution across Anduril for reusable components
  • Contribute to design, implementation and execution of development processes for vehicle and mission software, including full lifecycle testing, monitoring and operation
  • Manage a 6 - 18 month roadmap for your team
  • Manage an allocated budget for your team
  • Manage programmatic risk and collaborate with Technical Lead on technical risk and decision making
  • Lead by example as technically competent, trustworthy, and accountable
  • Communicate organizational vision, strategy, and direction to your team
  • Define and communicate goals and plans derived from organizational vision
  • Build the team through mentoring, professional development, and collaboration with recruiting/people functions
  • Lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team of 4 - 10 members including mentoring Engineers from diverse backgrounds
  • Report to a manager who may or may not have a software background
  • Travel to co-locate with end-users and/or other teams up to 20% of the time

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a management position within a high performing technology organization
  • Extensive professional experience as a Software Engineer with one or more domains/technologies of expertise
  • Ability to lead a team that works holistically on software-enabled capabilities across the software stack and lifecycle
  • Ability to own a software system including stakeholder engagement, requirements, roadmap, team coordination, design, implementation, sustainment and evolution
  • Capacity to learn and grow while mentoring team members and building cohesion
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Clearance
