About the role

Robotics software engineering role on the Tactical Recon & Strike (TRS) team developing autonomous systems for aerial drones and related hardware, focusing on software that integrates with hardware, multi-agent UAV coordination, and real-time interfaces. Location: Costa Mesa, CA. Requires eligibility for U.S. Secret clearance and relocation to Costa Mesa.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain core robotics libraries, including frame transformations, targeting, and guidance systems, for Anduril robotics platforms
  • Lead the development and implementation of major features, such as Software-in-the-Loop simulators for systems like Anvil
  • Optimize performance of existing products (e.g., battery consumption and route planning for Ghost helicopter)
  • Collaborate with hardware and manufacturing teams throughout the product lifecycle, providing feedback to influence hardware designs
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in deployed systems to ensure optimal field performance
  • Contribute to design and implementation of multi-agent coordination systems for UAVs
  • Participate in full software development lifecycle from concept to deployment
  • Stay current with emergent technologies and recommend innovations to improve products and processes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Computer Science, or related field
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • Strong proficiency in C++ or Rust with Linux development experience
  • Expertise in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and code optimization
  • Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
  • Hands-on experience with electrical and mechanical systems
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware and manufacturing
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a "Whatever It Takes" mindset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
  • Willingness to relocate to Costa Mesa, CA
