About the role

Forward Deployed Engineering role focused on applying tooling and Generative AI to application modernization projects, bridging customer engagements with MongoDB’s R&D to drive future capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to customer application modernization initiatives at all phases of the application lifecycle: assessment and analysis; planning and design; data modeling; application code conversion, development, test and build; integration and release configuration, production operations, application optimisation, and best practices adoption
  • Test drive MongoDB migration products to deliver on customer use cases and provide concise feedback to the development organization
  • Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to influence the product roadmap
  • Personally execute POCs including developing or extending tools for customer success, with potential for reuse and product integration (often on premises at client locations)
  • Maintain broad/deep technical understanding of product line and underlying technologies and protocols
  • Collaborate within a wider delivery team of consulting engineers, project managers, and account teams
  • Assist sales teams in evaluating opportunities with prospects and customers
  • Willingness to travel and work on site with customers for 7 days per month (within Europe)

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience as a field engineer, professional services consultant, or full stack developer working directly with Enterprise clients
  • Proficiency in Java or C#, and familiarity with database access patterns and frameworks in one or more of these languages
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise-scale software architectures, development methodologies, and deployment/operations
  • Experience developing enterprise applications using relational databases with SQL and stored procedures (Oracle, MS SQL Server, Sybase, PostgreSQL)
  • Experience or strong interest in using/developing with MongoDB and JSON-based document models (highly desirable)
  • Problem solving skills and cross-disciplinary collaboration abilities
  • Willingness to explore complex domains and bring new tools/tech to solve customer problems
  • Excellent communication skills (spoken and written)
  • Good understanding of Generative AI concepts, tools, and services; experience building AI-enabled applications/tools is a plus (Cursor, Claude Code, Gemini, OpenAI APIs)
  • Interest in AI-assisted toolchains to improve application development
