About the role

Competitive 4-month, full-time research fellowship in AI safety and security with mentorship, funding, and opportunities for public outputs. Remote-friendly with global locations and in-person workspaces in Berkeley or London.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct empirical AI research projects using external infrastructure (e.g. open-source models, public APIs) aligned with Anthropic research priorities
  • Produce a public output (e.g. a paper submission)
  • Engage in project selection & mentor matching; collaborate with mentors and fellows
  • Utilize compute funding and research expenses to advance safety and security research directions

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Python programming
  • Available to work full-time on the Fellows program
  • Strong technical background in computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • Motivation to work on AI safety and beneficial AI with ability to implement ideas quickly and communicate clearly
  • Open to candidates who may not meet every listed qualification (application encouragement)
