About the role

Production Engineers (PEs) at Meta develop the underlying infrastructure for Meta's products and services, ensuring reliability, performance, and scalability to support billions of users. They work across product and infrastructure teams, writing code, solving live production problems, and contributing to systems used by millions daily.

Responsibilities

  • Own back-end services which handle fleet management, front-end services such as WhatsApp / Instagram / Facebook / Meta Ads, infrastructure components that drive Meta’s advances in AI, core services used by every team at Meta, large MySQL deployments, networking systems and related areas
  • Lead your engineering team by example, mentor and help others grow, be a force multiplier of impact
  • Write and review code, leverage AI tools to land and productionize code, develop documentation and capacity plans, and debug complex problems live on large systems
  • Share an on-call rotation with your team and be an escalation contact for service incidents
  • Partner with top engineers to work on impactful production code and systems used by billions
  • Analyze and optimize code for quality, scalability, efficiency, and performance; establish ownership of systems with end-to-end understanding

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Unix/Linux and network fundamentals
  • 10+ years of coding experience in an industry-standard language (e.g., Java, Python, C++, PHP/Hack, Rust, Go)
  • Experience learning software, frameworks and APIs
  • Experience with internet service architecture capacity planning and/or urgent capacity augmentation
  • Knowledge of web technologies and/or internet service architectures (e.g., LAMP or MEAN stacks, CDN, load balancing)
  • Experience configuring and running infrastructure-level applications (e.g., Kubernetes, Terraform, MySQL)
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
