About the role

Backend-focused senior software engineer position at Finch, a YC-backed Employment Data Platform. Hybrid role in San Francisco or NYC with remote options in the US. Role emphasizes building scalable backend services, API-centric product development, and cross-team leadership on large initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain powerful services to enable Finch’s data presentation layer.
  • Lead product expansion initiatives, including horizontal expansion of existing integrations and greenfield development in new product verticals.
  • Develop, test, and maintain integrations to meet security, scalability, and performance requirements for scale.
  • Lead large product initiatives spanning multiple teams from problem definition to execution.
  • Deploy code daily.
  • Understand roadmap priorities and write scalable, testable, maintainable code.
  • Quickly debug issues across the stack using observability tooling and strong engineering fundamentals.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of relevant backend development experience in a start-up environment.
  • Track record of executing and delivering on large projects with high ambiguity.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to drive initiatives to completion.
  • Exposure to high-growth startups.
  • Knowledge of agile best practices and leveraging them to release faster.
  • Technical understanding of the software development process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and stakeholder influence, including with technical leaders and executives.
  • Experience working cross-functionally across multiple teams to deliver high-quality products.
  • Experience working in a remote-friendly environment.
