About the role

Senior mechanical design engineer responsible for end-to-end development of Starlink consumer hardware, from concept through high-volume production and public launch, including production line design and optimization.

Responsibilities

  • Own Starlink consumer hardware from conceptual design through high volume production and public launch
  • Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization
  • Test and iterate on products to enable high field reliability and performance in all environments and use cases
  • Design and develop the production lines that manufacture your product, including robot end effector design, process development, control system design, automation programming, and more
  • Refine the production system to create high-rate, high-yield, and reliable processes
  • Establish an efficient product lifecycle starting in the supply chain all the way through final integration that balances cost, complexity, and quality; work closely with partner teams to design and realize an efficient in-house production line

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
  • Experience with CAD and FEA software packages
  • 5+ years of professional experience with mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and/or manufacturing

Skills

Nice to have:Master’s degree in engineering or related technical discipline3+ years of professional experience in mechanical design and analysis2+ years hands-on project experience with complex mechanical systems (team lead)Proficient in 3D CAD (NX preferred)GD&T, mechanical engineering fundamentals, structural analysis, failure modesOwnership of complex component or assembly from design to production ramp
