About the role

Join the MongoDB Server Query Execution team to build and optimize the core execution engine, transforming logical query plans into production-ready operations for transactional, time-series, and analytical workloads across MongoDB and related products.

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the 12-month roadmap for Query Execution and provide technical vision
  • Deliver long-term goals (6-18 months) by writing production-ready C++ code and coordinating initiative-level strategy
  • Advise management on architectural decisions and collaborate with stakeholders on large initiatives
  • Mentor and grow team members through coaching, knowledge sharing, and leading by example
  • Contribute to mature design and development of the distributed, flexible schema document database
  • Write well-tested production code and participate in code reviews and design discussions
  • Own and drive component-level roadmaps in the query space

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on, professional experience in query engine development or database internals
  • Experience building production-level code with large user base and robust design
  • Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience with strong data structures, algorithms, and software design/architecture
  • Experience with large code bases in C++ or other systems programming language
  • Proven track record of technical leadership and roadmapping for a component
  • Passion for database query engines and relevant database domain experience
