About the role

Manufacturing Design Engineer at Hark, based in San Jose, bridging design intent and physical product through design for manufacturability, working with industrial designers, mechanical engineers, contract manufacturers and supply chain partners to ensure quality and scale.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with industrial designers and mechanical engineers to translate design concepts into manufacturable products
  • Owning design for manufacturability (DFM) across materials, finishes, tolerances and assembly processes
  • Working directly with contract manufacturers, tooling vendors and supply chain partners to drive quality and consistency
  • Identifying and resolving manufacturing risks early in the development cycle
  • Maintaining design intent through mass production, managing deviations and approving samples
  • Contributing to process improvements that raise the quality bar across Hark's hardware line

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in manufacturing design
  • Deep knowledge on working with finishes
  • Deep knowledge of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection moulding, die casting, surface finishing and assembly
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerancing and mechanical design principles
  • Proven ability to protect design quality through high-volume production
  • Comfortable working across time zones and cultures with factory and supplier partners
  • A sharp eye for detail and an uncompromising standard for fit, finish and feel
