About the role

Meta is seeking a data center lead building engineer to join the data center facility operations team. The role is an individual contributor responsible for operating and maintaining critical data center systems across one or more buildings totaling around 70+ MW capacity, reporting to a Critical Operations Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work for one or more 30MW+ data centers to ensure schedule deconfliction, work priority, maintenance compliance, procedural compliance, and team readiness
  • Schedule and supervise vendors/subcontractors during equipment/systems maintenance and services
  • Perform hands-on operations and maintenance, including all physical and administrative tasks, to ensure uptime, efficiency, and safety per site standards
  • Review all operating procedures and serve as final approval authority on some procedures
  • Support incident management, root cause analysis, and corrective action closure for operational issues
  • Achieve and maintain high technical knowledge of data center infrastructure; complete PQS training
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Meta policies and standards
  • Provide in-the-field training to Critical Facility Engineers and identify training needs
  • Ensure accuracy of work orders in the EAM system (Hexagon)
  • Collaborate with peer Lead Building Engineers to deconflict work across campus
  • Provide technical expertise and assistance as required
  • Regularly inspect equipment, buildings, safety routes, and grounds for abnormalities or unsafe conditions
  • Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend system upgrades
  • Order parts and supplies through procurement/inventory system
  • Escalate issues to facility management in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, controls, or other technical maintenance fields
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs
  • Proficient with computer systems (documents, spreadsheets, email)
  • Ability to walk on flat and uneven terrain on job sites
  • Ability to work at varying heights and from ladders
  • Manual dexterity and physical capability (hands/fingers)
  • Ability to reach, push, pull with upper body
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl
  • Ability to lift/move 45+ pounds
  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods
