About the role

Software engineer role focusing on Onboard Systems, Performance, or Devices Platform to support Nuro's autonomous driving stack and onboard software.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and safety teams to ensure onboard software and hardware work together safely and reliably
  • Resolve onboard error and performance problems
  • Optimize performance of AV software, build systems for continuous performance analysis, and drive latency reduction and resource efficiency
  • Develop and maintain device drivers, inter-device protocols, pipelines, and runtime APIs for the sensor and compute platform
  • Lay the foundation of onboard software for sensor/compute platform across perception and autonomy stacks
  • Work with stakeholders and suppliers to define, evaluate, and integrate next-generation HW platform
  • Build tooling to assist continuous testing and validation

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of relevant industry experience in addition to a Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • Strong C++ skills
  • Experience in large-scale distributed systems, computer architecture and OS, advanced algorithms in C++/Python, highly-concurrent/multi-threaded environments, software performance tuning and optimization
  • Experience with profiling/tracing tools (perf, eBPF, Perfetto, pprof, NVIDIA Nsight)
  • Robotics software frameworks; robotics hardware components (sensors, embedded platforms)
  • Experience with compute modalities (x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA)
  • Strong problem-solving and programming skills
