About the role
Software engineer role focused on Onboard Systems, Performance, or Devices Platform to support Nuro's autonomous driving stack on onboard hardware, performance tuning, and hardware/software platform development.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with software, hardware, and safety teams to ensure onboard software and hardware integrate safely and reliably
- Develop a high-performance onboard platform for autonomy software and algorithms
- Optimize performance of the AV software, build systems for continuous performance analysis, and reduce latency and resource usage
- Develop and maintain device drivers, inter-device protocols, and device runtime APIs for the sensor and compute platform
- Work on hardware-agnostic platform to support perception and autonomy stacks, and assist with testing/validation tooling
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to define and integrate next-generation HW platforms
Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field (plus degree)
- Strong C++ skills
- Experience in large-scale distributed systems, computer architecture/OS, algorithms using C++/Python, highly-concurrent environments, performance tuning and profiling/tracing tools (perf, eBPF, Perfetto, pprof, NVIDIA Nsight, etc)
- Robotics software frameworks and hardware components (sensors, embedded platforms)
- Experience with multiple compute modalities (x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA)
- Strong problem-solving and programming skills
