About the role

Product Designer on Instagram focused on shaping experiences that define how people share, discover, create, and connect. High-impact, design-led role requiring strategic thinking and hands-on execution within a cross-functional team. Involves end-to-end product development from ideation to launch, contributing to high-level strategy and design craft across the Instagram product ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver design projects of large and/or ambiguous scope across Instagram's product ecosystem.
  • Take broad, conceptual ideas and turn them into something useful and valuable for our 2 billion+ users.
  • Design flows and experiences that simplify and distill down complex actions into usable interfaces.
  • Design new experiences or layouts that evolve and define visual systems.
  • Innovate with AI to create new capabilities, improve personalization, or unlock new forms of value that weren't previously possible.
  • Contribute to strategic decisions around the future direction of Instagram products.
  • Give and solicit feedback from designers and a broader product team in order to continually raise our bar for quality, while also taking on mentorship.
  • Lead cross-functional partnerships with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content strategists to oversee the user experience of a product from conception until launch.
  • Champion design craft and raise the bar on the team — not just through your own work but by influencing how others design.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 8+ years of product design experience, with demonstrated impact on consumer products at scale
  • A portfolio that shows end-to-end ownership of complex, multi-surface product experiences
  • Experience leading end-to-end development efforts, driving progress with Cross Functional Partner (XFN) teams, developing design roadmaps, and making high-impact decisions balancing user needs with business growth objectives
  • Expertise in advanced prototyping techniques, such as creating functional prototypes or using emerging technologies
  • Comfort with data: you use metrics, research, and experimentation to inform and validate your design decisions
