About the role

Senior leadership role responsible for directing software engineering across Connected Warfare's warfighter experience platforms, including AR/VR and immersive training environments, with onsite work in Bellevue, WA.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical vision and software roadmap, ensuring alignment with Connected Warfare's strategic objectives, customer missions, and contract requirements
  • Lead and scale a high-performing organization of software engineers across multiple disciplines: embedded systems, Android/Linux platforms, AR/VR, distributed systems, UX, DevOps, and platform engineering
  • Partner with C-suite executives and division leadership to translate strategic vision into detailed implementation plans and communicate progress, risks, and decisions
  • Drive execution across high-stakes programs with strict timelines, ensuring delivery commitments are met with quality
  • Partner with Program Management, Product, Delivery, Hardware Engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices for software development, testing, security, deployment automation, and operational excellence
  • Balance innovation with execution by driving R&D for next-generation capabilities while ensuring reliable production systems
  • Build technical partnerships and navigate complex technology integration challenges
  • Own hiring, talent development, and team growth strategy across multiple technical domains
  • Represent software engineering perspectives in Connected Warfare leadership and strategic decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement in engineering velocity, quality metrics, and operational performance across all programs

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with 10+ years in technical leadership managing large, multi-disciplinary teams (100+ engineers)
  • Proven track record delivering complex software systems in defense, aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles or similarly demanding domains with hard real-time, safety, or mission-critical requirements
  • Deep technical expertise across embedded systems, mobile platforms (Android/Linux), distributed systems, AR/VR/XR, networking, or real-time graphics
  • Demonstrated ability to drive execution across complex, interdependent programs with multiple stakeholders
  • Strong technical judgment for architecture decisions balancing short-term needs with long-term scalability
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to articulate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior military/government leaders
  • Experience building and scaling engineering teams, attracting and retaining top talent
  • Ability to work onsite in Bellevue, WA
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • 20% travel anticipated for customer engagements, field testing, and collaboration
