About the role

Designs lifting and handling equipment for a maritime autonomous vehicle, including fixtures, cradles, and rigging, ensuring safe handling during manufacturing, transport, and field operations.

Responsibilities

  • Own lifting and handling equipment design: fixtures, cradles, spreader bars, slings
  • Perform load analysis and sizing for lifting equipment
  • Define rigging procedures, lift plans, and safety documentation
  • Design for interface with vehicle structural attachment points
  • Coordinate with production, logistics, and deployment teams on handling requirements
  • Support proof load testing and equipment qualification
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Navy, or equivalent rigging standards
  • Travel up to 25% to manufacturing, test, and operational sites

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, rigging, or material handling equipment
  • Experience with lifting fixture design and load analysis
  • Familiarity with rigging safety standards (OSHA, ASME B30, or Navy equivalents)
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance
