About the role
Commercial Counsel, SPARC (Safety, Policy, and Research Contracts) to join Anthropic’s legal team, focusing on AI safety and research agreements, product and strategic partnerships, and governance initiatives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, focusing mainly on AI safety and research agreements, as well as product and strategic partnership agreements
- Partner closely with beneficial deployments, health, policy, and education partnerships teams to support deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance
- Draft program terms for the phased deployment of AI models with frontier capabilities in cybersecurity and health sciences
- Help build and maintain commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements
- Partner with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on novel AI governance initiatives
- Identify and escalate legal risks appropriately while supporting business momentum
- Stay current on legal developments affecting AI technologies
Qualifications
- Hold a law degree (JD, LLB, or equivalent) and meet the local licensing requirements to work as in-house counsel where you'll be based
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical legal guidance to non-lawyers on complex commercial law matters
