About the role

.Manager overseeing indirect supplier management for Starship production categories (machinery/equipment, industrial supplies, packaging, raw material, machined parts, chemicals) focusing on cost, quality, delivery, and supplier performance.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders to build quality procurement strategies aligned to business requirements.
  • Be the voice of reason and push engineering to make sound design decisions for a high performing supply plan.
  • Manage contracts to ensure supplier performance to contract obligations, including expediting and rapid response to demand changes.
  • Create sourcing strategies to reduce risk, enable continuous cost reduction, and align with payment terms, cash targets, on-time delivery, and cost savings.
  • Perform advanced quantitative and business process analyses to identify financial impacts, cost improvement, and performance for assigned categories.
  • Improve operational efficiency with AI or other productivity tools.
  • Conduct comprehensive supplier analysis to formulate a strategic sourcing plan that identifies new/suitable suppliers, optimizes cost structures, and ensures continuity of supply based on market trends.
  • Present value propositions to SpaceX executives related to contract awards, cost reviews, and critical supply issues.
  • Execute purchase orders and manage escalation for purchase-to-pay issues.
  • Oversee talent development; mentor and manage related positions on critical projects.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree and 4+ years of relevant experience in Engineering, Purchasing, Contract negotiation, Material or production planning, Operations or supply chain management, Material cost control, or Master production scheduling; or a Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of experience in one or more of the listed areas; or 10+ years of experience in one or more of the listed areas.
  • 1+ years of experience leading a team with direct reports.
