Accelerator Software Engineer
San JoseFull-timePosted 3mo ago
About the role
Role focused on accelerator software that turns custom hardware into an inference system, spanning ASIC software, platform firmware, and host-side kernel/drivers with opportunities to specialize in one area while contributing across others.
Responsibilities
- Own the accelerator software that turns our custom hardware into an inference system, from power-on to inference execution.
- Translate inference software requests into low-level device operations and scheduling decisions at nanosecond-level timescales.
- Work across ASIC software, platform firmware, and host-side kernel and drivers.
- Specialize in one of three areas (ASIC Software, Platform Software, or Host-side Kernel and Drivers) and contribute across the others as the team grows.
- Build software that runs directly on the accelerator (CPU initialization, RTOS, boot ROMs/bootloaders, MMU/IO drivers, on-device inference execution).
- Build microcontroller/FPGA firmware for power sequencing, bring-up, telemetry, updates, thermal/power management, fault detection and recovery.
- Develop Linux kernel and device drivers, PCIe/DMA, memory management, virtualization/SR-IOV, and high-throughput, low-latency command flows.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong C/C++ and software engineering fundamentals.
- Experience building and debugging low-level software that interacts directly with hardware.
- Depth in firmware, embedded systems, device runtimes, operating systems, or kernel/driver development.
- Experience shipping software on real hardware into production.
- Familiarity with ARM, PCIe, DMA, HBM, DRAM, Ethernet, UART, RTOS, or FPGA systems.
- Strong systems intuition around performance, concurrency, memory, reliability, and fault handling.
