About the role

Forward-thinking engineer needed to support production operations in Meta’s data centers, focusing on hardware, Linux systems, automation, and cross-functional collaboration to maintain high platform health and scalable operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support platform health by resolving tickets and addressing root causes, including remote troubleshooting and physical inspection in data halls
  • Participate in deep dives and root cause analyses of technical issues across tooling, hardware, and networking
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on process, hardware, and automation projects
  • Act as point of contact for introducing new platforms/hardware to the site, accelerating mass production readiness
  • Use data and tools to identify issues and communicate with stakeholders, escalating as needed
  • Identify corrective actions for hardware issues and influence future design for better serviceability
  • Solve systemic hardware/software issues at scale using scripting, automation, and tooling
  • Continuously improve processes, tools, and systems to optimize repair efficiency and quality
  • Use data analytics to maximize server uptime and utilization; understand failure rates and SLAs
  • Provide training and technical guidance to team members and other stakeholders
  • Maintain and update documentation (procedures, runbooks, guides)
  • Build cross-functional relationships and influence policies to improve global operations
  • Participate in 24/7 on-call rotation
  • Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

Qualifications

  • BS, BA or BEng in a technical field or commensurate experience
  • 5+ years of technical IT experience in infrastructure (e.g., Systems Administrator, DevOps Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer)
  • Intermediate Linux understanding in a complex IT environment with triage and troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on server hardware and components experience, including storage
  • Intermediate knowledge of data center interdependencies (electrical, cooling, cabling, security, network)
  • Experience managing technical issues and driving to root cause
  • Experience with technical projects in process improvement, technology, or automation
  • Effective communication skills tailored to audience
  • Intermediate knowledge of HTTP, DNS, RAID, DHCP
  • Experience guiding external vendors technically
  • Experience debugging/modifying/creating scripts or code in Bash, Python, SQL, PHP, Rust, Go or Perl
  • Knowledge of out-of-band/lights-out management methods (IPMI, serial console)
  • Experience using data/metrics to drive decisions
