About the role

Staff Software Engineer, Backend for Reverse ETL on a hybrid Toronto/Oakland-based team, integrating data activation capabilities into the Fivetran product and working across authentication, billing, data model, and UI. Senior member of a distributed, collaborative engineering team with mentorship and project leadership responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Make contributions to all parts of our tech stack, which comprises Ruby on Rails, Typescript, Vue, and AWS.
  • Be comfortable “filling in the gaps” in product / design specs. Prototype to test ideas before committing to building.
  • Work closely with product team, leaders, and customers to design and develop features for data activation within Fivetran.
  • Mentor early-career engineers, perform code reviews, advise on best practices, provide project-level leadership, and coordinate across teams, departments, and time zones.
  • Lead major projects from research spikes to writing and socializing design documents, planning implementation and rollout.
