About the role
Senior / Staff Robotics Engineer responsible for owning the arm autonomy stack, bridging high-level planning and low-level control to enable precise and compliant manipulation in dynamic industrial environments.
Responsibilities
- Advanced Motion Planning & Trajectory Generation: architect algorithms for high-DOF arm motion in dynamic environments, implement constrained motion planners for real-time, jerk-limited trajectories, solve Whole Body control coordinating mobile base and manipulator for extended workspace and stability during heavy lifting tasks.
- Interaction Control & Compliance: develop low-level control strategies for safe physical interaction, design and tune impedance/admittance controllers to modulate stiffness based on force feedback for tasks like opening heavy doors or plugging in connectors.
- Teleoperation & Human-Robot Interface: build the mathematical engine for remote manipulation, translate human operator inputs into feasible, safe robot motions, design control mapping and assistance layers ensuring intuitive and stable remote manipulation while respecting safety constraints.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, OR an M.S. degree with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Applied Mathematics: deep understanding of rigid body kinematics, dynamics, and 3D geometry; fluent in linear algebra and Lie theory for representing robot state.
- Modern C++ Expertise: production-grade, real-time C++ (C++17/20); experience with Eigen, KDL, or Pinocchio.
- Planning Frameworks: experience with motion planning libraries (e.g., OMPL, MoveIt, TrajOpt, or similar).
- Control Theory: hands-on experience implementing PID, Impedance Control, or MPC on real hardware.
- Requires 5 days/week in-office collaboration with the teams.
