About the role

Staff Platform Engineer role focused on delivering a self-service infrastructure platform on Kubernetes, with strong Go development, cloud infrastructure expertise, and the ability to mentor others and lead technical initiatives. Remote-based (US) with on-call responsibilities and potential travel.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and building tools and applications to extend Calendly’s infrastructure platform
  • Evaluating and guiding the development of applications across the organization
  • Exercising deep expertise in cloud infrastructure concepts and patterns
  • Offering and evangelizing patterns for application teams to consume for cloud native applications development
  • Fostering a collaborative environment of learning and knowledge dissemination

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and/or software development
  • 4+ years of experience leading technical projects
  • An eagerness and drive to teach, share knowledge, and mentor others
  • Comfortable working directly with internal customers to understand needs and collaborate on solutions
  • Creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to deliver high-quality solutions to complex issues
  • Strong Go (Golang) development experience, especially APIs for cloud infrastructure
  • Expert knowledge of cloud native design on Kubernetes (Controllers and Operators)
  • Experience building applications on Temporal (plus)
  • Deep experience designing, building, and running highly-available production applications
  • Understanding of Linux and systems engineering fundamentals
  • Technical knowledge of cloud infrastructure (especially GCP), distributed systems, and reliability practices
  • Working knowledge of observability tooling (Datadog)
  • Availability for on-call rotation
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)
