About the role

Atlas is incubating a cohort of Founders to scope and lead a concrete AI infrastructure intervention. The role is for seasoned career professionals in security/AI risk to develop a fundable plan, assemble a founding team, and pitch funders, with the possibility to exit Atlas to lead the project. Flexible remote work with hubs planned in SF, DC, London, and Tel Aviv.

Responsibilities

  • Incubate a single object-level project from rough problem statement to fundable plan
  • Sharpen a direction into a concrete intervention with expert attestations and decision-maker buy-in
  • Build founding team and advisory network
  • Produce a grant proposal in partnership with a donor
  • Pitch funders and plan for scaling (e.g., $10M+)
  • Collaborate with Atlas to transition to leading the project or move to another role as appropriate

Qualifications

  • Background in cybersecurity in national security context or ML security research or relevant industry security roles (frontier AI labs, hyperscalers, hardware companies, government contractors)
  • Ability to break down ambiguous problems into actionable steps
  • Strong written and verbal communication to coordinate and motivate stakeholders
  • Experience reviewing state-of-the-art and prototyping/testing ideas
  • Experience coordinating external stakeholders toward a common goal
  • Passion for mitigating AI risks and willingness to leverage Atlas network and support
