About the role

MongoDB Technical Services Engineers advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems across the full ecosystem (server, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure), including Atlas and Cloud Manager. The role combines deep MongoDB expertise with problem-solving, customer focus, initiative, teamwork, and humor, and is based in Dublin for a hybrid working model.

Responsibilities

  • Help customers solve complex issues across architecture, performance, recovery, security, and related areas for MongoDB at scale.
  • Serve as an expert resource on standard methodologies for running MongoDB in production environments.
  • Advocate for customers by working with product management and development teams on their behalf.
  • Contribute to internal projects including development of support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
  • Mentor and ramp new team members and build knowledge of new product lines within the MongoDB ecosystem.

Qualifications

  • 5-6 years total engineering experience (3 of those within Tech Support or System Administration).
  • Strong Linux systems administration and troubleshooting skills (performance, memory, I/O, configuration, security, networking, clustering, storage management).
  • Good understanding of networking concepts and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, SSL/TLS).
  • Experience supporting and troubleshooting complex production systems (database-backed or enterprise applications).
  • Strong diagnostic ability across application tier, database, storage, and infrastructure.
  • Broad awareness of workload patterns and customer requirements related to performance, availability, and scalability.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) in production environments.
  • Experience operating or troubleshooting Kubernetes or similar orchestration platforms.
  • Familiarity with database administration concepts across RDBMS and/or NoSQL; MongoDB experience preferred.
  • Experience with backup, restore, disaster recovery, or related operational workflows.
  • Basic scripting or coding ability and comfort with reading code or automation in production systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and genuine desire to help customers and teammates.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and collaborate effectively.
  • Strong learning agility and willingness to ramp quickly on new technologies.
