About the role

Role focused on building production services for Fluidstack's Facility Controls Team, enabling telemetry, device integrations, and control APIs for data-center infrastructure. On-site roles across multiple U.S. cities.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own the services other teams depend on. Device integrations, telemetry pipelines, equipment models, and APIs need to work together across sites.

Qualifications

  • Experience building large-scale software systems that process large volumes of data.
  • Shipped production code in Go, Python, or TypeScript and ability to adapt to problem demands.
  • Experience with high-throughput messaging systems (e.g., NATS or Kafka) and understanding of ordering, delivery guarantees, backpressure, and tradeoffs between concurrency and correctness.
  • Designed data models for large volumes of time-stamped data; able to reason about write throughput, query performance, retention, and schema evolution.
  • Instrumented production services with metrics, logs, and profiling; demonstrated impact of instrumentation on performance or incident response.
  • Able to design before building, explain design choices, and justify alternatives.
  • Defined interfaces and failure boundaries; accounted for unavailability of dependencies and tested failure/recovery paths.
  • Experience tracing data from source through services and storage, handling missing/duplicate/late/invalid data, and treating stale values differently.
  • Bonus: Prior datacenter or controls experience.
