About the role
Senior staff-level technical leader responsible for the architecture and ongoing health of Betterment’s GTM systems ecosystem (centered on Salesforce) and a growing set of integrations.
Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the target GTM systems architecture (Salesforce, HubSpot, Clay, and adjacent tools) and drive the stack toward it.
- Define and maintain canonical GTM systems architecture, including system-of-record boundaries, data domains, integration patterns, and architecture decision records.
- Design and build scalable, maintainable solutions for complex cross-system initiatives from problem framing through deployment.
- Continuously audit stack health (integration reliability, data integrity, technical debt, security posture, permissions, auditability, platform limits) and drive remediation.
- Review and guide solution designs across the team, establishing standards for integration patterns, data design, deployment practices, release governance, and documentation.
- Mentor engineers on architecture and decision-making; lead through influence.
- Partner with Sales, BAS, and B@W to understand workflows and translate needs into pragmatic designs.
- Act as the GTM systems thought leader, monitoring market trends (including AI-driven GTM tooling) and challenging vendor claims against requirements.
- Collaborate with Data and Product/Engineering on integration, data contracts, and data integrity across platforms.
- Lead high-priority, cross-system initiatives; oversee technical diligence and implementation architecture for new tools and major platform changes (requirements, security, integration design, UAT, and cutover).
Qualifications
- Deep expertise with Salesforce as core system of record for GTM; declarative, programmatic, and integration approaches; ability to choose patterns based on scale, maintainability, risk, and data implications.
- Experience owning architecture for a multi-tool GTM stack in a B2B or SaaS environment; designing integrations and managing data flows at scale.
- Strong understanding of integration design patterns (APIs, middleware, event-driven flows) and their impact on reliability and reporting.
- Experience with marketing automation and sales engagement platforms (HubSpot preferred) and GTM data enrichment/orchestration tooling; familiarity with Clay or similar signal-based automation is a plus.
- Solid data literacy; ability to define data contracts and validate data across systems; partner with data/analytics teams.
- Judgment on permissions, auditability, release risk, and data governance in complex environments.
- Track record as a staff-level or lead IC: setting technical direction, reviewing designs, and elevating team quality without formal management.
- Ability to own ambiguous, high-stakes projects end-to-end with minimal oversight.
- Experience defining durable architecture artifacts and operating mechanisms; due diligence and planning for vendor evaluations and platform migrations.
