About the role

Mobile Engineering Manager at Zopa, leading a team of native iOS and Android engineers to deliver customer-facing mobile experiences in a hybrid London-based role.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Head of Engineering of Mobile.
  • Manage a team of mobile engineers, motivating and developing the team, maintaining a high performance bar and driving quality across the full SDLC.
  • Accountable for execution and delivery of the team, creating structure, maintaining momentum and ensuring high-quality mobile experiences are delivered predictably.
  • Collaborate with Product and Design to understand outcomes and shape mobile delivery, ensuring experiences feel at home on iOS and Android.
  • Partner with Engineering Managers and Backend Engineering to drive complex initiatives from inception to delivery, identifying dependencies and unblocking problems.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team, maintaining credibility to challenge decisions and uphold quality, performance and maintainability of mobile apps.
  • Contribute beyond the team to the wider Mobile and Engineering Management communities, improving shared standards and practices.
  • Communicate clearly with senior stakeholders and align teams across the organization.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience leading mobile engineering teams and delivering high-quality mobile applications.
  • Ability to lead high-profile, strategic work with energy and pace.
  • Ability to turn ambiguity into clarity and solve complex problems while balancing priorities and dependencies.
  • Focus on meaningful customer and business outcomes and challenge priorities when needed.
  • Champion exceptional mobile products with distinct iOS and Android experiences and stay close to emerging mobile practices.
  • Build trusted partnerships across Product, Design and Engineering, aligning teams around shared goals.
  • Lead with humility, empower engineers with clear expectations, feedback, coaching and high standards.
  • Ownership mindset for team delivery and technical quality.
  • Strong communication, empathy and stakeholder management.
