Senior Manager, Technical Program Management (Search & AI Foundations)
About the role
Senior Manager of Technical Program Management for Airbnb’s Infrastructure team, leading AI Platforms initiatives spanning Search Relevance, Machine Learning Infrastructure (MLI), and Search Knowledge Infrastructure (SKI). Partners with engineering, product, and analytics teams to drive data-driven decision making, shape technical direction, and deliver AI-powered search and personalization capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Shape and influence the technical direction of projects, ensuring stakeholder needs are met with high-quality standards.
- Rapidly prototype and validate project ideas through iterative development cycles, adapting based on insights and data.
- Define and secure stakeholder alignment on clear, measurable success criteria for AI initiatives.
- Assess risks and opportunities, and devise proactive mitigation strategies to maintain momentum and project success.
- Maintain transparent communication with stakeholders about progress, developments, and challenges.
- Present outcomes and updates to senior leadership, articulating trade-offs, risks, and opportunities.
- Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams, resolve ambiguity, and remove roadblocks to achieve business goals.
Qualifications
- 13+ years in technical program management, with at least 8 years leading a TPM team and fostering inclusive, sustainable culture.
- Demonstrated experience in search relevance, natural language search, and recommendation systems; GenAI/LLM experience a plus.
- Ability to translate vague problems into detailed solutions and drive initiatives to completion.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable to teams with different cadences.
- Strong business judgment, influence, analytics, and ownership mindset; data-driven decision making.
- Experience with ML models, LLMs, LRMs, feature development, model testing, and resource management for AI-powered product experiences.
- Familiar with A/B testing, incremental delivery, and deployment.
- Ability to ramp up quickly and learn new technologies; excellent written and spoken communication and stakeholder influence.

- Pay Range: $232,000—$282,000 USD (base pay)
