About the role
Interfere is building the operating system for product quality, turning invisible product failures into shared, actionable insights. This role owns the data backbone, designing pipelines, storage, and retrieval to support real-time analysis and AI/ML workloads. Located in New York City, full-time with visa sponsorship for exceptional international candidates.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate production data infrastructure at meaningful scale (throughput, cost, reliability).
- Design and implement data pipelines, schemas, and storage used by product, AI/ML, and analytics teams.
- Develop high-throughput ingestion that handles billions of product events without data loss or cost overruns.
- Create real-time stream processing for detection and diagnosis with low latency and correctness.
- Build storage and query systems (e.g., ClickHouse, columnar/time-series/vector approaches) that scale with customer data.
- Develop indexing and retrieval infrastructure to provide right context to agents and models at need.
- Establish schema, taxonomy, and data-quality systems that evolve with product surfaces.
- Implement cost, observability, and reliability layers for internal data systems.
Qualifications
- Built and operated production data infrastructure at meaningful scale with real throughput and cost awareness.
- Fluent in distributed-systems tradeoffs (streaming vs batch, consistency vs latency, fidelity vs sampling, storage vs compute).
- Able to define actionable next steps from ambiguous data/infrastructure problems and ship promptly.
- Treats cost as a feature and designs systems that balance performance with cost.
- Able to explain pipeline behavior, failure modes, and tradeoffs clearly to engineers, researchers, and PMs.
