About the role

Embedded founding engineer within Coinbase Finance to automate FP&A & Treasury workflows using the company’s AI platform, translating financial processes into scalable engineering solutions, and driving adoption of AI tooling across the FP&A & Treasury organization.

Responsibilities

  • Embed with FP&A and Treasury leadership to surface automation opportunities across workflows (e.g., period-end close, variance analysis, liquidity stress-testing)
  • Prototype quickly using Coinbase's AI platform and recommend net-new builds
  • Own the Finance automation roadmap in partnership with the VP of FP&A & Treasury, translating financial workflows into engineering requirements
  • Define the build-vs-buy strategy for Finance tooling (build internally, adopt from partners, procure, or retire)
  • Ensure automated outputs are traceable, reviewable, and auditable with SOX compliance, segregation of duties, and human-in-the-loop controls
  • Drive adoption through brown-bags, prototype walkthroughs, and stakeholder feedback loops

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production systems in stakeholder-heavy environments
  • Hands-on experience deploying LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, hallucination guardrails, and human-in-the-loop designs for high-stakes financial outputs
  • Ability to embed with non-technical domain experts and translate workflows into engineering requirements
  • Familiarity with ERP data flows (NetSuite, Workday, Anaplan), reconciliation logic, trial balances, and SOX-controlled environments
  • Open to learning; CPA not required
  • Familiarity with multi-agent orchestration concepts (handoffs, escalation, auditability)
  • Experience in Forward Deployed Engineering, Solutions Engineering, or embedded technical advisory roles, ideally in fintech or enterprise automation
  • Commitment to responsible use of generative AI with human oversight to improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
