About the role

Senior role focused on defining, developing, and executing supplier quality processes for hardware assemblies and sub-assemblies; partners with design teams and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met from prototype through high-rate production, with emphasis on manufacturability, supplier development, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with design teams to support design development, provide design for manufacturability feedback, and generate product data (drawing details, BOM information, and part requirements) for supplier quality success.
  • Leverage knowledge across machining, fabrication, electromechanical assembly, special processes, and inspection/measurement to support design, manage technical risks, prototyping, and scaling designs for production.
  • Drive supplier quality development across product development stages through design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies; ensure supplier processes meet product requirements.
  • Collaborate with development engineering, product quality engineering, sourcing engineering, category management, and program management to deliver predictable supply and manage exceptions/containments/deviations for supplier performance, especially in development phases.
  • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing key/critical characteristics, developing measurement systems, and leading supplier qualification activities (PPAP, FAIR, audits, inspection development).
  • Partner with Global Strategic Sourcing and Product Sourcing Engineering to improve supplier performance for cost, quality, delivery, and strategic goals.
  • Own supplier risk elimination to improve quality and reliability; use audits, readiness reviews, and training/documentation for compliance.
  • Support RCCA and MRB activities and own containments from purchased goods.
  • Review supplier effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned; drive SCAR processes.
  • Audit supplier Quality Management System elements related to supplier quality and performance; define/improve documentation to ensure flow-down from customers.
  • Prepare, support, and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews for contract deliverables in quality management and compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, or similar technical field.
  • Experience in manufacturing environments across hardware commodity areas (machined parts, fabrications, electromechanical assemblies, castings/forgings, PCBAs, cable/harness).
  • Experience scaling supplier capabilities from prototype to low-rate and high-rate production; experience with source inspection at aerospace/defense suppliers a plus; experience flowing down source control requirements.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001-based QMS; AS9100 Lead/Internal Auditor Certification or equivalent a plus.
  • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 and ensuring control plans/inspection processes meet requirements.
  • Experience driving supplier performance/evaluation; familiarity with SOW, quality clauses, IP, and ITAR/government regulations.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, APQP, PPAP elements (MSA), quality improvement techniques, and GD&T.
  • Strong ownership mindset; ability to drive projects from start to completion.
  • Analytical skills with data mining, data quality, metrics, issue management systems, and statistical tools (MATLAB, JMP, Minitab).
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. TS/SCI security clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations.
